OBIT CANNADAY, WALTER LEONARD

CANNADAY, Walter Leonard, 81, of Rt. 3, Rocky Mount, died Monday, February 21, 1994 at his residence. He was preceded in death by a son, Dean Cannaday and a stepson-in-law, Carlton E. Motley. Surviving are his devoted wife of 58 years, Julia Plybon Cannaday; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Shelba and William Bousman, Rocky Mount, Helen and Bobby Teague, Collinsville, Betsy Kendrick, Roanoke; one stepdaughter, Margaret K. Motley, Rocky Mount; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Andrew and Brenda Koger, Ringgold; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Ruth Thompson, Fern and Clyde Sink, all of Henry, Lalah Nolen, Bassett; four brothers, Charlie Cannaday, Allen Cannaday, Joseph Gray Cannaday and Albert Cannaday, all of Bassett. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in Flora Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Glenn Voss and the Rev. Gary Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Snow Creek Memorial Garden, at Snow Creek Christian Church. The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Franklin County, C/O Franklin Memorial Hospital, 124 Floyd Ave., Rocky Mount, Va. 24151 or the Snow Creek Rescue Squad, Rt. 2 Box 270-R, Penhook, Va. 24137. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the family receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 342 S. Main St., Rocky Mount.
