OBIT LOOKABILL, WILLIAM ROYCE
LOOKABILL, William Royce, 78, of Route 2, Box 123, Pulaski, died Monday
night, February 21, 1994, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born on
June 2, 1915, in Watauga County, N.C., and was the son of the late William
David Lookabill and Julia Idol Lookabill. He had been a member of the Memorial
Baptist Church for the past two years. For the previous 47 years, he was an
active member of the First Baptist Church, Pulaski, having served as a deacon
and Sunday School teacher. For approximately 40 years, Mr. Lookabill was a
barber in Pulaski. He was a member of the Pythagoras Lodge #239, A.F. & A.M.,
Pulaski, having served as Worshipful Master of the Lodge in 1955 and District
Deputy Grand Master of the 40th Masonic District in 1957. He had also been a
member of the Pulaski Elks Lodge since 1950. Mr. Lookabill was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II, having served as a surgical technician and medical
supervisor in the European Theatre of Operations. Surviving are his wife,
Frances Hardy Lookabill, Pulaski; one daughter, Julia L. Oraveez, Arnold, Md.;
son and daughter-in-law, R. Glennwood and Jane Lookabill, Draper; three
grandchildren, Kimberly, Joshua, and David Lookabill; one sister, Mrs. Clyde
(Leona) Moretz, Deep Gap, N.C. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11
a.m. from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Patrick Coffey and Dr. W.
Otis McClung officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens,
Dublin, with Pulaski Masonic Lodge conducting the graveside rites. Visiting
will be Wednesday evening at Stevens Funeral Home, where the family will
receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. The family wishes that memorials be made to
the Randolph House Activity Fund, P.O. Box 1560, Pulaski, VA 24301.
