OBIT ALLEN, LUCILLE

ALLEN, Lucille, 72, of Havaco, W. Va., passed away Sunday, February 20, 1994 in Roanoke, Va. She was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ for over 30 years. She served as church treasurer, Sunday School teacher, president of foreign missions, teacher of A.B.Y.P.U. and member of the Womens' Council. Survivors include her husband, John H. Allen Sr.; two daughters, Barbara Monroe and Carolyn Stuart, both of Roanoke; four sons, John Allen Jr. and Leonard Allen, both of Roanoke, Dennis Allen, Clinton, Md., Kent Allen, Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; one son-in-law, Lynwood Monroe, Roanoke; four daughters-in-law, Ann Allen, Doris Allen, both of Roanoke, Laverne Allen, Clinton, Md., Tammy Allen, Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; two sisters, Viola Daniels of New York and Irene Martin of Detroit, Mich.; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Zion Church of Christ, Havaco, W. Va., with Bishop Harold D. Beaver officiating. Interment in Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Bluefield, W.VA. The remains will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service for viewing and visitation. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home, Roanoke, Va.
