SEQUEL TO `THE BIRDS' COMING IN MARCH

Q: I saw a segment on ``Entertainment Tonight'' about an upcoming movie called ``Birds II,'' a sequel to Alfred Hitchcock's original movie ``The Birds.'' I'm a big Hitchcock fan and would like to know when and where it will be released and who will be in the movie. - M.R., Holland, Ohio.

A: Look for ``The Birds II: Land's End'' to debut on Showtime cable March 19. The sequel features a cameo by original ``Birds'' star Tippi Hedren. Brad Johnson (``Ned Blessing'') and Chelsea Fields (``Angel Falls'') are the stars.

Q: Was there ever a western TV series or character by the name of Stoney Burke? If so, when did it air, what kind of character was he and who played the part? - C.C., Hartville, Ohio.

A: ``Stoney Burke'' was on ABC during the 1962-63 season. Jack Lord starred as a modern-day rodeo cowboy, with Bruce Dern and Warren Oates in supporting roles. Five years later, Lord found more long-term success as Steve McGarrett on ``Hawaii Five-0.''

Q: I like to watch and tape the show ``Whose Line Is It Anyway?'' on Comedy Central. Is this show still being taped? What's the address? - M.Z., Jersey City, N.J.

A: The stand-up comedy show is still in production in England, although there's no word on when Comedy Central will buy new episodes to show here. Write to ``Whose Line'' c/o Hat Trick Productions, 10 Livonia St., London, England, W1V3PH.

Q: My family would like to know when we can expect a new run of episodes of ``Snowy River.'' We love the show, but have seen all the early episodes and want to see new ones. - L.B.S., Tucson, Ariz.

A: More episodes of ``Snowy River: The MacGregor Saga'' are headed your way. A Family Channel spokesperson says some new episodes of the popular series will air in April. A second season of ``Snowy River'' will begin in the fall.

Q: What has happened to ``Bakersfield, P.D.''? It hasn't been on the past couple of weeks and I'm afraid it has been canceled. Brian Doyle-Murray can't seem to keep a show on the Fox television network. - K.D., Lexington, Ky.

A: The offbeat ``Bakersfield'' was dropped to make room for ``Monty'' and ``Roc'' on Tuesdays. Fox says ``Bakersfield'' will return this summer.

Q: What other shows or movies has actor Barry Corbin of ``Northern Exposure'' played in? I just love him. He is a great actor. - J.O., Forney, Texas.

A: Texan Corbin, ex-astronaut Maurice Minnifield on ``Northern Exposure,' has appeared in nearly 100 movie and TV roles, including ``The Thorn Birds,'' ``Urban Cowboy,'' ``Dallas'' and ``Lonesome Dove.'' He lives with his wife and two sons in Los Angeles, or in Redmond, Wash., when he is filming ``Exposure.'' Last month, Corbin, 53, attended the Fort Worth premiere of ``8 Seconds'' (the new feature film starring Luke Perry and ``Exposure's'' Cynthia Geary) in a wheelchair. He is recovering from a broken foot, but says that won't delay his return to the ``Exposure'' set.
