The Community Christmas store in Salem and Roanoke County will get an early start on Christmas 1994 when it holds an organizational meeting March 3 at the Salem Civic Center.
The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. in Parlor D. Anyone interested in helping with the store this year can sign up at the meeting.
The organization solicits food, clothing and toys from donors and makes them available to needy families at Christmas. People eligible to shop in the store must be cleared by social service agencies. They are given points based on their need and then use the points as money to purchase items in the store.
During Christmas 1993, the first year of its operation, the store served 177 families.
