\ WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY has named several Roanoke Valley residents to its dean's list for the fall term. They are: Meredith Gilmer Winn, a sophomore and daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Winn Jr.; Sarah English Tune, a junior and daughter of Nancy C. Tune; Chad Christopher Sartini, a freshman and son of Mr. and Mrs. V.J. Sartini III; Jennifer Bowles Royster, a sophomore and daughter of Dr. and Mrs. R.L. Royster Jr.; Elizabeth Grace Weaver, a junior and daughter of Holly L. H. Weaver; Courtney Allison Tucker, a sophomore and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl M. Tucker; Ashley Blake Matthews, a sophomore and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. \ FREED-HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY in Henderson, Tenn., has named several Roanoke Valley residents to academic lists for the fall semester.

Stephanie McLaughlin, daughter of Kenneth and Barbara McLaughlin; Lisa Bennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Freeland, were named to the dean's list.

Christy Dennis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Dennis, was named to the president's list.

Dennis also completed requirements for a bachelor of social work degree and will graduate summa cum laude.

McLaughlin, an arts and humanities major, also was nominated as a finalist for the Miss FHU 1994 title.

\ MICHAEL SUTTON, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Sutton of Vinton, recently received first place in the local and sixth place in the district Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Scholarship competitions.

His entry was titled "My Commitment to America."

Sutton is a senior at William Byrd High School.

\ JENNIFER LEIGH REYNOLDS, daughter of Vincent and Robin Reynolds of Toddsbury Drive, Vinton, has been named to the dean's list at Meredith College in North Carolina for the fall semester.

\ ROBIN WILLIS of Roanoke has been named to the dean's list at the University of Northern Iowa for the fall semester.

\ JENNIFER MICHELLE ELLIS and MELANIE RENEE HAIN, both of Roanoke, have been named to the honor roll at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C. for the fall semester.

\ SUSAN L. GROSS and JENNIFER LYNN RUTLEDGE, both of Roanoke County, have been named to the dean's honor at Bluefield College for the fall term.

\ JAMES C. STEPHENS of Roanoke completed degree requirements for a master of library science degree during the first semester at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

\ BRIDGEWATER COLLEGE has named five Roanoke Valley students to its fall dean's list. They are: Michelle Rena Brown, Roanoke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garland Brown; David Preston Cox, Salem, son of Mr. and Mrs. KenneyCox; Elizabeth D. Kirk, Roanoke, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. David Kirk; Jennifer Adele Lowe, Roanoke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Lowe; and Jeffrey C. Mills, Blue Ridge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mills.

Brown and Cox are freshman and Kirk, Lowe and Mills are seniors. Brown and Mills also earned all A's and a perfect 4.0 quality point average.
