HARRY W. KESSLER III of the Beltone Hearing Aid Center in Roanoke recently received the Pacesetter Award from owner Carl E. McCurdy.

The award recognizes Kessler's contributions to the education and well-being of the hearing impaired through his testing, evaluation, and application of hearing aid technology.

\ GILBERT E. BUTLER JR. and AL THOMASON, members of the Roanoke and Roanoke County planning commissions respectively, recently graduated from the 16th Virginia Certified Planning Commissioners' Program at Virginia Tech.

The 10-week certification program - involving class instruction, home study and a two-day workshop - is designed to provide new and veteran planning commission members with a comprehensive introduction to community planning and the related responsibilities of local planning commissions.

The program is sponsored by the Virginia Cooperative Extension's Community Resource Development Program, the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development and the Virginia Citizen's Planning Association.
