VINTON PLAYS BROADWAY FOR MISS DOGWOOD PAGEANT

Six young women will compete Saturday in the Miss Vinton Dogwood Festival Scholarship Pageant at William Byrd High School. Competition starts at 7:30 p.m.

The winner will compete in the Miss Virginia Pageant in July. The theme for this year's Vinton competition is "Broadway," and Ann Norman and Juan Pineda will provide special entertainment. Vickie Damico is the mistress of ceremonies.

Tickets are $5 at the door.

The contestants are:

Tracy Crawford, 23, a student seeking an associate degree from Blue Ridge Community College. The Luray resident will sing.

Wendi Crouch, 23, a graduate of the University of Virginia. The engineer with a Northern Virginia firm will perform ballet.

Tara Duus, 19, a student at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. The Roanoker will perform a baton routine.

Mitzi Ferguson, 23, a graduate of Roanoke College. She is attending the College of Health Sciences and will tap dance.

Heather Holick, 18, a student at Blue Ridge Community College. The Port Republic resident will dance.

Kimberly Wray, 22, a Roanoke County teacher. The Radford University graduate will play the piano.
