APPALACHIAN DAY NOW SET FRIDAY

Radford University's annual Appalachian Awareness Day - postponed from Feb. 11 by the ice storm - has been rescheduled for Friday in Heth Ballroom on the university campus. The event gets under way at 10 a.m. and features local musicians, singers and storytellers:

10-10:50 a.m. Appalachian storyteller Chris White.

11-11:40 a.m. June Draper plays and sings traditional country music.

11:50 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Radford University students read and perform Appalachian music.

12:30-1:20 p.m. Nero's Night presents a musical history, from old time to bluegrass, acoustic jazz and original music.

1:30-2 p.m. Radford University students read and perform Appalachian music.

2-2:50 p.m. Crossties plays traditional and contemporary bluegrass music.

3-3:50 p.m. The Appalkids from Pulaski County High School entertain with stories and traditional music.

4-4:50 p.m. Jam session and dancing.
