OBIT HUDSON, MORRIS H.

HUDSON, Morris H., 80, of 625 Addams St., Covington, died Wednesday in Clearwater, Fla. He was the husband of Martha Watts Hudson, who preceded him in death Saturday, February 19, this year. Mr. Morris was born May 19, 1913 in Amherst County, a son of the late Hope Hudson and Nellie Merton Hudson. He had been a banker in Virginia since 1933. Mr. Morris came to Covington in 1947 to assume the duties of assistant vice president of Citizens National Bank and was later named vice president. In January of 1963 he was elected to the bank's board of directors. Citizens National Bank merged with First National Exchange Bank of Roanoke in 1964. Mr. Hudson was named chief executive officer of the bank in 1966, positions he held until his retirement January 1, 1975. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, M. Thomas Hudson and Carol O. Hudson, Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Lee Roy (Pauline) Brown, Richmond; three grandchildren, Jennifer H. Scott, Michael T. Hudson and John M. Hudson; and one great-grandson, Tyler A. Scott, all of Jacksonville. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Granberry Memorial United Methodist Church, Covington, with the Rev. J. LeRoy Young officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home. Memorial tributes may go to Granberry Memorial United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
