TRIPPING DOWN THE AISLE

Margaret Bigger has proof that weddings don't always go as planned. Her book, ``There's No Such Thing as a Perfect Wedding'' (Down Home Press, $7.95), is a collection of 209 real wedding stories that f-b f+iaren'to fairy tales.

A jilted suitor, who was a pilot, buzzed the church with nose dives in hopes of stopping his ex-sweetheart from marrying his rival. It didn't work, though it sure created a ruckus.

When preacher asked, ``Does anyone know why these two should not be united in holy matrimony?'' the bride piped up, ``I do. I would like to thank my maid of honor for sleeping with my fiance.'' And with that, she whacked the groom in the face wthem, for they know not what they do.''

Bigger, a Hollins College alumna, passed up an appearance on TV's ``Geraldo`` so she could come to Roanoke to sign copies of her book. She'll be at Valley View Mall's Waldenbooks on Saturday, 2-4 p.m., and at the Hollins College Bookstore on Monday, 2:30-4:30.

Bring your own stories, because Bigger's on a fact-finding mission: She needs new material for a sequel of her not-so-perfect-wedding book.
