Although she has been circulating petitions to put her name on the ballot May 3, Corn has been keeping her options open until now.
Describing herself as a conservative, Corn said the city should save for future needs. "I want the most value from every dollar spent," she said.
Corn also said the city should plan for capital improvements at least five years down the road and set priorities for their completion.
Radford Mayor Tom Starnes has already announced plans to run again. He'll face a challenge from Councilman David Worrell, who still has two years left on his council term. Starnes defeated Worrell in the mayor's 1990 re-election bid. He was the city's first popularly elected mayor.
Councilman Gary Weddle has said he won't run for a second term. He plans to move to Pulaski County next year.
The only other announced City Council candidate is W.D. "Bill" Yerrick, a Radford University official.
The mayor and council members run at large for four-year terms.
