GARST-EDWARDS

Miss Martha Rachel Edwards and Mr. John Callan Garst were married Saturday, January 29, in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Edenton, N. C., by the Rev. Russell Johnson.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arch Branson Edwards of Edenton. The bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Arthur High Garst, Jr., of Roanoke.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a traditional gown of blush silk satin by Christos. The gown had three-quarter sleeves, a sweetheart neckline and a chapel train. The bodice and skirt of the gown were detailed with beautiful embroidered flowers and finished with Soutache trim.

Maid of honor was Miss Polly Minter Edwards, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Michelle McCurdy Edwards, sister-in-law of the bride; Mrs. Amber Dalhgreen Curtis; Miss Wendy Sue McGrady; and Miss Caroline Nolan.

The father of the groom served as best man. Ushers were Mr. Arthur High Garst III, brother of the groom; Mr. Frank Russell Ellett; Mr. Davis Alexander Slaughter; and Mr. Lacy Carr McClain. Mistress of ceremony was Mrs. David Griffith.

A wedding reception was held at the Lords Proprietor's Inn in Edenton.

After a wedding trip to the Florida Keys, the couple will make their home at Boones Mill, Va.
