WHERE DO THEY STAND ON ISSUES ?

They are all for economic development.

They hate crime.

They get gushy about Hotel Roanoke.

They are candidates in Tuesday's Democratic primary for Roanoke City Council.

The six candidates have campaigned mainly through the mail. There have been no joint appearances and no forum for the candidates to discuss issues facing city government.

The Roanoke Times & World-News sat down with each candidate to discuss issues that don't normally appear in glossy campaign fliers.

The results appear on page C5.

The winners of the primary will represent the Democratic Party in the general election on May 3.
