OBIT HEMPHILL, MARY ETHEL

HEMPHILL, Mary Ethel, 79, of Salem, died Saturday, February 26, 1994, at Lewis-Gale Hospital. She was a member of the Ridgewood Baptist Church; also a member of the Western Star Lodge #11 AF & AM, Guyandotte, W.Va. She was the daughter of the late May Hambaugh, of Cincinnati, Ohio; George Hambaugh of Charleston, W.Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Owen Hemphill. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Bob Gothard of Greenville, S.C., Judy and Dell Bradshaw of Salem; one brother, Elmer Hambaugh, Sr., Cleves, Ohio; a special niece by marriage, Laura Ratzlaff, Citrus Heights, Calif.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 1, 1994, 2 p.m. at Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. Nelson Harris officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salem Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Lotz Salem Chapel.
