'HEAVEN & HELL': IN THE MAIN, IT'S A HAZARD

"Heaven and Hell'; offers more of the latter than the former. The complete title of the ABC miniseries is "John Jakes' Heaven and Hell: North and South, Part III," and if you think that's long, wait 'til you get a load of the show.

About as sophisticated as an 1890s riverboat melodrama - it comes complete with a snarling villain threatening to foreclose on the heroine's plantation - "Heaven and Hell' is a much belated and totally unnecessary sequel to the first two "North and South" miniseries which ABC showed in 1985 and '86.
