OBIT BUCKLAND, EDITH JOHNSTON

BUCKLAND, Edith Johnston, 88, of Pearisburg, died Sunday, February 27, 1994. She was a member of the Ingram Village United Methodist Church, member and teacher of Sunday School, and a member of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Buckland was born in Giles County on June 15, 1905 and was a daughter of the late Hector Johnston and Flora Stables Johnston. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell H. Buckland Sr., a son, Darrell H. Buckland Jr. and a sister, Ruth Fletcher. She is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Arvel (Lois) Thompson, Kellysville, W. Va., Mrs. Granville (Jerry) Houchins, Pearisburg, Mrs. W. F. (Sylvia) Munsey, Pearisburg, Mrs. C. W. (Luella) LaFon, Salem, Mrs. Patrick (Flora) McKlarney, Rich Creek, Mrs. Lawrence (Betty) Poff, Roanoke, and Ms. Clara Ruth Miller, Peterstown, W. Va.; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 1, 1994, in the Givens Funeral Chapel, Pearisburg, with the Rev. W. R. Perkins officiating. Burial in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.
