The two appointments will be short-term, to bridge the gap as the county begins conversion to an elected School Board next year.
School Board Vice Chairman Bob Goncz of Christiansburg holds the District B seat. He represents most of central Montgomery County, including part of Christiansburg, the Ellett Valley and Vicker.
Don Lacy of Blacksburg holds the District G seat. His area includes most of northern Blacksburg.
Both men are eligible for reappointment. Lacy said Thursday he would defer comment until he received a formal notice of the application process from the county. Goncz could not be reached for comment.
The abbreviated appointments will run from July 1 until Dec. 31, 1995.
The first four elected School Board members will take office Jan. 1, 1996.
Districts B and G will be among those four seats up for election in November 1995. District E, now represented by Lou Herrmann, and District F, represented by Virginia Kennedy, are the other two.
The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to make the appointments for districts B and G in June after interviewing the applicants and holding a public hearing.
The deadline to apply is April 25. Applicants must be qualified voters in good tax standing and residents of the districts they would represent.
Applicants should send a letter of intent and a statement of qualifications to County Administrator Betty Thomas at P.O. Box 806, Christiansburg 24073.
