MORTGAGE RATES KEEP ON RISING

Thirty-year, fixed-rate mortgages averaged 8.04 percent this week, up from 7.8 percent last week and the highest in nearly 15 months, said a national survey released Thursday by the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp.

This week's level is highest since mortgages averaged 8.04 percent during the week ended Jan.15,1993. It is more than 11/4 percentage points above the 25-year low of 6.74 percent last October.

On one-year adjustable rate mortgages, lenders were asking an average initial rate of 4.65 percent, up from 4.6 percent last week.

Fifteen-year mortgages averaged 7.55 percent, up from 7.3 percent a week earlier.
