PENSIONERS' LAWYER TRIES AGAIN

Attorney General Jim Gilmore said a new lawsuit charging that the state violated the civil rights of illegally taxed federal pensioners is "a lawyer's gambit and an end run" around a previous suit.

Michael Kator, a Washington, D.C.-based lawyer, filed the lawsuit Tuesday in U.S. District Court on behalf of an estimated 186,000 pensioners. He said the state was wrong in refusing to refund the pensioners' taxes.
