2 TEENS ARE ARRESTED IN KILLING OF STORE CLERK

A 13-year-old and a 17-year-old have been arrested and charged with the fatal shooting of a Lightfoot convenience store clerk.

Charles City County police said they arrested the pair about an hour after the fatal shooting Saturday morning of Robert P. Morris. Police said the pair fled from their truck after being stopped about 3:15 a.m. They were captured in some nearby woods.

The truck belonged to a relative of the store clerk and had been stolen from the convenience store, James City County Police Chief Robert Key said Saturday.

Police found a .380-caliber semiautomatic pistol in the truck.

Police declined to identify the two teens. Key said they are believed to be brothers and live in James City County. One has been charged with capital murder and the other with murder, Key said. The two also are charged with robbery and using a firearm to commit a felony.

Police suspect robbery was the motive. "They took a small amount of money, less than $25," Key said.
