DESHAZO SIZZLING IN SPRING

Maurice DeShazo led the offense, and linebackers Lawrence Lewis and Andy Miller led the defense in a Virginia Tech football scrimmage Saturday in Blacksburg.

DeShazo was 13-of-26 passing for 129 yards, and he threw touchdowns to tailback Tommy Edwards and tight end Kevin Martin.

Lewis had seven tackles, including two sacks for 10 yards in losses. Miller and defensive tackle J.C. Price had nine tackles apiece.

In other college football:

Symmion Willis threw two touchdown passes and Cave Spring High School graduate Tiki Barber ran for 61 yards on 24 carries in a Virginia scrimmage in Charlottesville.

Tailback Kevin Brooks was the leading rusher with 84 yards on 24 carries.

Willis completed 11 of 15 passes for 126 yards and threw touchdown passes to Brooks and receiver Bryan Owen.

Linebackers Skeet Jones and Curtis Hicks had 11 tackles each.
