UVA SLIPS BY MARYLAND 9-7

Greg Traynor scored three goals and James Ireland made 18 saves as third-ranked Virginia edged eighth-ranked Maryland in a men's ACC lacrosse game in College Park, Md.

Maryland (4-3, 1-2) led 3-2 early in the first period, but the Cavaliers (6-1, 1-0) came back and never trailed again, scoring four times in extra-man situations. Kip Fulks led the Terrapins with two goals.

Cherie Greer scored four goals and Kelley Daddona added three as Virginia (5-1) whipped Maryland-Baltimore County 16-6 in a women's game in Baltimore.

Joe Brockman scored five goals and added three assists as VMI blasted Radford 19-7 in a non-conference men's game in Radford. Chris Feltmann scored three goals and had three assists for the Keydets (5-3). Adam Hayes led Radford (1-8) with two goals.
