ADAMS, Elizabeth Kent, 85, of Radford, passed away Sunday, April 3, 1994. She was born June 1, 1908 at the ``Horseshoe Farm"", in Pulaski County, Virginia. She was the daughter of John Putnam Adams and Elizabeth Kent Cowan Adams, pioneer residents of Radford. She was a graduate of Radford College, a member of the Radford Presbyterian Church since 1919, and a former member of Gen. William Campbell Chapter of the D.A.R. Survivors include several great-nephews and nieces. Private graveside services will be held Thursday, April 7, 1994, at 11 a.m. at the Sunrise Burial Park in Radford with Dr. William H. Jackson officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, it was her request that contributions be made to the Presbyterian Children's Home in Lynchburg, Virginia. Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home in Radford is in charge of the arrangements.

BAILEY, Samuel Wesley, 75, of Pembroke, died Saturday, April 2, 1994. Graveside services 2 p.m. Monday, Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. Arrangements by Kendall Funeral Home, Pembroke.

COOK, Henry John Sr., 71, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, April 2, 1994. Arrangements by Lotz Vinton Chapel.

COX, Cathleen Ruth, 68, of Salem, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 1, 1994. She passed away at her home after a struggle with cancer. She was born in Radford on April 23, 1925 to the late Norwood and Mary Cox. She was employed at VA Medical Center and retired because of health reasons in January '92 after 25 years of loyal service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claud Allen Fulcher. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, George and Maxine Arnold Sr.; four grandchildren, Harry Fulcher, Tonya Fulcher, Gina Arnold, George Arnold Jr.; one sister, Mary L ou McGhee of Ohio; also a very dear and special friend, Joseph Spencer. She left behind many friends, family and co-workers who loved her very much. She was a very loving, caring person, strong willed and determined, kind of stubborn at times! She was a real fighter! She had suffered with cancer and God decided today to take her home to suffer no more. She was a member of Masons Cove Chapel. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. She was, is and always will be our Hero. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 5, 1994 at 1 p.m. in the Arnold Family Cemetery, with Pastor Sonny Miller officiating. DUNCAN, John Junior, 66, of Radford, passed away Sunday, April 3, 1994 at his home. He was a member of the Grove United Methodist Church where he was an active member of the Men's Bible Class. He was an employee of New River Industries with 46 years of service with 35 years in supervision. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Snowville Masonic Lodge #159 AF&AM, a member of the Kazim Shrine Temple of Roanoke, a member of the Radford City Republican Committee, the Montgomery Co. Moose Lodge and the American Legion Post of Radford and a former member of the Radford Host Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents. G.E. and Gliffy Hollandsworth Duncan. Survivors include his wife, (Nena) Elmalene Duncan of Radford; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Charles Housel of Radford; one son and daughter-in-law, Randal and Julie Duncan of Radford; three grandchildren, Elijah and Joseph Housel, and Kaylor Duncan; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bobby Dickerson of Radford. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 5, 1994 at 2 p.m. at the Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence Dishman and the Rev. Will Robbins officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park in Radford. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

FLETCHER, James Daniel Sr., 83, of Pearisburg, died Saturday night, April 2, 1994 at the V. A. Medical Center in Salem, Va.. Mr. Fletcher was born on September 15, 1910 in Narrows, Va., a son of the late Charles William and Dora Austin Fletcher and was also preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Fletcher. Mr. Fletcher was retired from Virginia Limestone, was a member of the VFW Post #6000 in Narrows, Va. and the Disabled Veterans Association. He is survived by his wife, Mildred (Louise) Mosely Fletcher, Pearisburg; three sons, James D. Fletcher Jr., Roanoke, Charles Fletcher, Salem, Jackie Fletcher, Pearisburg; one daughter, Judy Fletcher, Marion; two sisters, Mary Rodgers, Salem, Cecil Ryder, Roanoke; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 5, 1994 at 2 p.m. in the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg, with the Rev. Jesse Kearns officiating. Interment will follow at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg, Va. from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday evening.

FLINT, Preston Pershing, 76, of Lexington, died Saturday, April 2, 1994 at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born August 15, 1917, in Lexington, he was the son of the late Haywood Taylor and Willetta Lindsay Flint. Mr. Flint was a member of the Lauderdale A.R.P. Church and was retired from James Lees and Sons of Glasgow after 35 years service. Surviving are his wife, Frances Nicely Flint, Lexington; one daughter, Joyce Flint Pickett, Bloomville, N.Y.; three sons, Preston E. Flint, Colonial Heights, Robert B. Flint, Suffolk, Johnny R. Flint, Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Ruth Hicks, Lexington, May Swartz, Harrisburg, Pa.; one brother, Roy L. Flint, Colonia, N.J.; 11 granchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning April 5, 1994, at 11 a.m. from the Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Zeb Carson Williams officiating, with burial to follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Harrison Funeral Home.

GOOLSBY, Virginia Key, of Newport News, died Saturday, April 2, 1994 in a Newport News hospital following a heart attack. She is survived by her husband, C. Morriss Goolsby, Newport News; two daughters, Mrs. Randall (Ginny Sue) James, Mrs. C.F. (Becky) McCallum Jr., both of Virginia Beach; three grandsons; two granddaughters; three brothers, Newell W. Key, Roanoke, James Carlton Key, Pittsburgh, Pa., Jesse Clyde Key Jr., Charlotte, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Charles (Isabel) Hardy, Richmond. HODGES, James Monroe T., (``Lightnin""), 74, of Salem, died Saturday, Apri l 2, 1994. He retired in 1972 from the Salem V. A. Medical Center as an Admissions Clerk with 29 years of service. He was a member of the Salem Church of Christ, a member of the local DAV Chapter, a Marine Corp. WWII veteran, serving with the Fourth Marine Division. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Hanna Hodges. Survivors in include his wife, Mary Jo Hodges; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles A. and Sue Hodges, Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Lendy H. and John S. Counts Jr., Salem; three grandchildren, T. C. Counts, Julia Counts, and Toby Counts, all of Salem; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Harrison, Mrs. Nellie Strickler, both of Salem; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 5, 1994 at 11 a.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem with Mr. Jim Herron officiating. Assisting will be Scott Taylor and Roy Miller. HORNE, Berta J., 92, of Hardy, passed away Saturday, April 2, 1994 at her home. Being a loving mother she will be sadly missed by her family. She was a member of Cooper's Cove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years and was preceded in death by her husband, David R. Horne. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Gene and Hazeltine Davison, Roanoke, Frances Lawhorne, Hardy, Richard and Pauline Hurd, Roanoke, Dan and Joyce Abbott, Roanoke, Thomas and Barbara Mitchell, Hardy, John and Betty Fielder, Vinton; sons and daughters-in-law, Carroll and Peggy Horne, Cloverdale, Robert and Joyce Horne, Hardy, John and Arlene Horne, Goodview, Lawrence and Patsy Horne, Roanoke, Donald and Brenda Horne, Hardy, Bill and Lois Horne, Roanoke, Douglas Horne, Hardy, David and Virginia Horne, Hardy; 42 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, David Jenkins, Clinton, Md.; a sister, Mrs. Carl (Mrytle) Holdren, Roanoke; numerous nieces and nephews. LINDAMOOD, John A. Jr., of Wytheville, died Saturday, April 2, 1994 in the Wythe County Community Hospital. He was born in Wythe County, the son of the late John A. Sr. and Nancy Elizabeth Groseclose Lindamood. He was the manager of the Wytheville Vance Company for over 30 years, retired from Amsco Products and worked part-time at Kincer-Miller. He was a longtime member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church, serving as treasurer for 22 years and as chairman of the Board of Trustees, and superintendent of the Sunday School. Mr. Lindamood served in the community in many capacities, including president and charter member of the Lions Club and named a Fellow of the Melvin Jones Lion International. He is survived by his wife, Irene Durham Lindamood; one daughter, Nancy Anne Lindamood, Roanoke; one niece, Ann Toth, Pittsburg, Pa. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Barnett Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Charles Burnett officiating. Interment will follow in the West End Cemetery. McDONALD, Sarah Miller, 78 of Route 1, Huddleston, died Saturday, April 2, 1994 in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Waynesboro on September 26, 1915, a daughter of the late Joseph Oscar Miller and Nannie H. Hawkins Miller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Bacon McDonald. She was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church. She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Dailey, Dallas, Texas, Corley Gordon, East Millinocket, Maine, Jean Davis, High Point, N. C.; also, eight grandchildren, Renn y Semprun and Anthony Semprun, both of Austin, Texas, Patty Elwell, Hamilton, Ohio, Lt. Patrick McCormack, stationed Adak - Aleutian Islands, Kelly McCormack, Buffalo, N. Y., Jenni Stackhouse, Jacksonville, Fla., Susan Perry, Winchester, Tom Davis, Winston-Salem, N. C. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 1994 at the St. Johns Episcopal Church Comlumbarium, with the Rev. James A. Creasy officiating. MEADOR, E. K. Sr., (``Buddy""), 60, of Roanoke, died Saturday, April 2, 1994 in a Salem hospital. He was the son of the late John C. and Carrie A. Meador, an employee of Bud Weaver Heating & Air Conditioning and a member of Salem Wesleyan Church. Surviving are his wife, Loretta N. Meador; son and daughter-in-law, Kirby and Donna Meador, Roanoke; mother-in-law, Marcella Nichols, Roanoke; brother and sister-in-law, John and Betty Meador, Richmond; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Fred Schaffer, Naples, Fla., Ann and Tom Robertson, Lynchburg. Funeral services will be at Oakey's North Chapel, 3 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Paul W. Braisted officiating. Interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. NEECE, Ruby Charlotte Irvin, (``Nenny""), 87, of Crockett, Va., daughter of the late Gordon Chesley Irvin and Medora Fisher Irvin passed from this life on Saturday, April 2, 1994 in a Roanoke hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Neece, a granddaughter, Chesley Peyton Hash, and two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Dow and Betty Neece of South Boston; two daughters and sons-in-law, Merle and Peyton Hash of Roanoke, and Chesley and Les Wiger of Blakely, Ga.; one brother, Garland C. Irvin of Wytheville; seven grandchildren, Casey Hash of Elk Creek, Bridgett Pascale of Madison Heights, Holly Newton of South Boston, Wendy Yung of Hong Kong, Jennifer Wiger of Williamson, S.C., Heather Simmons of Roanoke, Ned Neece of Atlanta, Ga.; and eight great-grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church form 75 years. She attended Radford State Teacher's College and taught seven grades in a one-room school. She retired from the United Inter-Mountain Telephone Company. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church, Crockett, Va., with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the Grubb Funeral Home, Wytheville, Va. SNAPP, Lawrence O., of Glade Spring, died Sunday, April 3, 1994 in Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was owner and operator of Snapp's Trading Post, a member of Glade Spring Presbyterian Church at Old Glade, a member of the Chilhowie Masonic Lodge #250 A.F. & A.M., York Rites, Scottish Rites, Kazim Shrine Temple, Roanoke. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Powell Snapp; two brothers, Thomas A. Snapp, Fairbanks, Alaska, Ardle Woody Snapp, Richmond; one sister, Colleen Redman, Fairbanks, Alaska; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Williams Funeral Home Chapel, Chilhowie with the Rev. DeLacy Allen Andrews, Jr. and the Rev. Eugene C. Little officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Glade Cemetery. STOUT, A.J., (``Jake""), 65, of Martinsville, formerly of Roanoke, died Sunday, April 3, 1994 in Memorial Hospital of Martinsville-Henry County. Born March 3, 1929 in Forsythe County, N.C., he was a son of the late James J. Stout and Minnie L. Stout, who survives in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was recently retired as a supervisor in merchandising for the Tultex Corporation having worked in Roanoke and Martinsville. Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, Doris Davis Stout; three sons, Ricky D. Stout and his fiancee, Mona Steahly, both of Roanoke, Anthony K. Stout and his wife, Karen, both of Roanoke, Jay E. Stout and his wife, Francesca, both of Martinsville; a sister, Mrs. Charles E. (Ann) Blackburn of Tobaccoville, N.C.; a brother, James J. Stout Jr. and his wife, June D. of Pfafftown, N.C.. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 1994, from Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the McKee Funeral Chapel, Martinsville.

TRENT, Beulah Maxey, 84, of Roanoke, died Saturday, April 2, 1994. Surviving are her husband, Lawrence D. Trent; one daughter, Norma Jean Croote, Roanoke; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence E. and Lorraine Trent, Roanoke, Paul D. and Claudine Trent, Roanoke; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Oakey's North Chapel 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 1994 with the Rev. Charles R. Doyle officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. VAUGHN, Homer H., 86, of Rt. 3, Lexington, died Saturday, April 2, 1994 in the Shenandoah Valley Health Care Center, Buena Vista. He was born on November 27, 1907 in Renick, W. Va., a son of the late James Albert Vaughn and Margaret White Vaughn. Mr. Vaughn retired from Virginia Power in 1967 after 30 years of servic e as an operator at the Cushaw and Balconey Falls Hydro-Electric Plants. He was a 50 year member of the I.B.E.W. He taught Sunday School for 25 years with perfect attendance at the Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, Alderson, W. Va. Because of declining health, Mr. Vaughn moved back to Virginia, where he has lived for the past five years. He was a member of the Elliott's Hill United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Ann S. Vaughn, Lexington; two sons, Jerry L. Vaughn, Richmond, John C. Vaughn, Hickory, N. C.; a daughter, Mrs. Suzanne V. Pracna, Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters Mrs. Arline Wykle, Fredericksburg, Mrs. Lillian Russell, Alderson, W. Va., and Mrs. Dick McDowell, Ronceverte, W. Va.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm.. Tuesday, April 5, 1994 in the Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, Alderson, W. Va., with the Rev. Rick Curtis and the Rev. William K. Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Fletcher Cemetery, Alderson, W. Va.
