ETC. SALEM BUCS ARRIVE IN TOWN TODAY

Spring training is over and the Salem Buccaneers are ready to get down to business.

The 1994 edition of the Class A Carolina League team is scheduled to arrive in Salem today as the team prepares for its season-opener Thursday night at 7 against the Frederick Keys at Municipal Field.

The Bucs, with Trent Jewett as manager, start the season with four home games against Frederick, have a day off April 11, then go on the road for three game at Wilmington, Del., against the Blue Rocks and three at Frederick. Salem returns April 18 for a seven-game homestand.

Several familiar names from the 1993 season are on the 27-man roster, including catcher Marcus Hanel, second baseman Chance Sanford, outfielders Jeff Conger and Jon Farrell and pitchers Dave Doorneweerd, Sean Evans and Marc Wilkins. in Scoreboard.)
