COLUMNIST WINS AWARD

Jack Bogaczyk, the Roanoke Times & World-News' sports columnist, wrote one of the seven columns honored by the Football Writers Association of America in its 1993 writing contest.

Bogaczyk received an honorable mention in the annual FWAA competition for his December column, "Coach not problem at VMI," on the firing of former Keydets coach Jim Shuck.

Bogaczyk, 44, has been the newspaper's sports columnist since July 1991. - Staff report
