GAS THEFT NOT LAUGHING MATTER

Police aren't positive who made off with four tanks of laughing gas from Williamsburg Community Hospital but suspect students at the nearby College of William and Mary may know.

Teresa L. Edwards, a hospital vice president, said she has no evidence that students were involved even though it placed an ad in the school newspaper offering a reward for information.

Twice last month, someone broke into a fenced area at the hospital and stole the tanks filled with pure nitrous oxide, an anesthetic sometimes inhaled for a quick high.
