The town's staff has looked at other potential downtown sites for the placement of a basketball court, but none of the others have proven suitable.
Jefferson School would be less expensive for a court than using an undeveloped site, because an asphalt overlay would be all that is needed. The existing worn asphalt in the building would be a good base.
The estimated cost for such a project is $7,000, Pulaski Town Council was told Tuesday.
There are problems with the site, including its closeness to a residential area and the limited street parking available. The site will be examined to see if there would be any special policing problems.
The town staff will continue its study of the potential site as well as its discussions with Pulaski County officials.
