MANAGEMENT BASICS TO BE TAUGHT IN SEMINARS

Five free tax education seminars providing basics in management for small businesses will be presented in April and May at the Roanoke Valley Graduate Center at 117 Church Avenue S.W.

Registration is necessary and must be made through the Blue Ridge Small Business Development Center at 983-0717.

Crestar Bank, Firebaugh and Berry CPA's and the City of Roanoke are sponsoring the seminars that will be from 8:30 a.m. until noon. The dates and seminars are as follows:

April 26 - Business Basics: corporations vs. proprietorships, financial statements, record keeping, business plans.

May 5 - Using Your Home as a Business Expense: qualifications for a business expense, deductible expenses, limitations.

May 12 - How to Manage Payroll Taxes: employer identification number, withholding taxes, quarterly returns, annual reports, tax deposits.

May 17 - How to Maximize Your Business Assets: property eligibility, determining basis, additions & improvements, depreciation, records.

May 20 - Tax Information for the Sole Proprietor: tax form schedules C and SE, estimating taxes, deposits.
