SEVERAL GIVEN AWARDS BY MENTAL HEALTH GROUP

The Alliance for the Mentally Ill-Roanoke Valley recently presented awards to five Roanoke Valley individuals and organizations.

They are: Rev. Terry Willis, minister of Melrose Christian Church, Community Outreach Award; On Our Own Inc., a drop-in center for mental health consumers, Community Service Award; Sally Sevareid, news director of WXLK radio station, Media Award; Mildred Willis, Volunteer of the Year; and Lewis-Gale Psychiatric Center, Community Awareness Award.

The alliance also elected the following officers during its annual meeting: Mildred Willis, president; June Poe, vice president; Steve Clemons, secretary; and Warren Simpson, treasurer.
