Booth space during Tour
BLACKSBURG - Booth spaces are still available for the downtown activities on the Tour DuPont race day, May 10. "Tour Downtown" will be held on College Avenue and Draper Road from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and there will be live entertainment, food booths, crafts and special apparel booths.
The booth spaces are $50 and measure 10 feet deep by 16 feet wide. Deadline for requesting space is April 15.

Jump-a-thon set for lung association
RADFORD - The Recreation Majors Club of Radford University and the Circle K International service organization will hold a jump-a-thon to benefit the American Lung Association today and Saturday. From 5 p.m. on Friday to 5 p.m. on Saturday on the lawn in front of Heth Hall at Radford University, members will be taking turns jumping in the Burger King whopper hopper.
Money raised will be used to provide the lung association's octopuff smoking prevention program in Montgomery County elementary schools.
Basketball contest set Saturday
FLOYD - The J.C. Waters III Memorial Hotshot-Basketball Competition will be held Saturday at the Floyd County High School gymnasium.
Registration begins at 9:15 a.m., and the event starts at 10 a.m.
Trophies go awarded to first place winners, silver medallions to second place winers and bronze medals to third place finishers.
An auction of sports memorabilia begins at 1:30 p.m.
All proceeds benefit the J.C. Waters III memorial scholarship fund.

Senior Olympics practice space
BLACKSBURG - The Blacksburg Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with the Christiansburg Senior Center, is opening the gymnasium and field space for practicing for the Senior Olympics.
The community center on Patrick Henry Drive will be open for basketball, jump roping and casting on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The community center program room will be available for checkers, bridge, rook and canasta also on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The municipal park fields next to the community center will be available the same day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for frisbee, horseshoes (shelter 1), croquet, discus, shot put, softball and riflery.
Blacksburg Parks and Recreation will supply basketballs and softball equipment. Senior athletes need to bring other equipment for practice.

Lecture about diversity set
RADFORD - A lecture on "Understanding Diversity: People Helping Other People" will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Commonwealth Room of Heth Student Center at Radford University. Admission is free.
On April 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., a workshop on "Understanding Multicultural Perspectives: A Workshop for School Counselors and Others Helping Professionals" will take place. Registration fee is $59.
