ARRINGTON, William R., (``Dick""), (86), of Vinton, born October 10, 1907, went to be with the Lord on April 7, 1994. Mr. Arrington was a member of Barnhardt Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Myrtle Horn Arrington; one daughter and son-in-law, Martha A. and Conrad Thurman, Vinton; one brother, Ralph Arrington, Dugspur, Va.; three sisters, Saluda Baldwin and Ruth Helms, both of Vinton, Gladys Arrington, Lynchburg; two granddaughters and husbands, Deborah and Graham South Jr., Union, W. Va., Susan and David Barnett, Forest, Va.; and three great-grandchildren, Christopher A. Sloan, Vinton, Sarah E. Barnett and Jonathan D. Barnett, both of Forest. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11, 1994 from the Lotz Vinton Chapel at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Terry Mabrey officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Sunday at the Lotz Vinton Chapel.

DANIEL, Bruce, 69, of Rt #2, Fries, Va. the Summerfield Community, passed away Friday, April 8, 1994, at his home. Born May 12, 1924 at Elk Creek, Va., to Edd and Ila Daniel Funk. He was a member of Summerfield United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Elk Creek Raycarl, Elk Creek, Va. Surviving sister and brother-in-law, Estelle and James Atkins, Rt #1, Independence, Va. (Carsonville Community); brother and sister-in-law, Jesse and Mabel Funk, Galax, Va.; special cousins, Ralph and Pat Taylor, Independence, Va.; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in Summerfield United Methodist Church, with th e Rev. David Olinger and Elder Jess B. Higgins will officiate. Interment in church cemetery. The body is at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va. and will be taken to the church one hour preceding service to lie in state. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Summerfield United Methodist Church. DIXON, Eula B., 80, of Christiansburg, died suddenly Friday, April 8, 1994, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara D. and Wallace Scott; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Michael G. and Debbie Scott; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Sharon and Bill Gibbs; three great-grandchildren, Devin Scott, Joshua Scott, Brian Gibbs, all of Christiansburg. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at the graveside in Sunset Cemetery conducted by Mr. James Thomas. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Box 176, Christiansburg. EDMISTON, Ruby, 73, of Chilhowie, died Friday, April 8, 1994, in the Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie. Survivors include several cousins. Graveside services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View Cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Jones and the Rev. Don Mullinax officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Williams Funeral Home.

ELMORE, Russell G. Sr., 67, of New Castle, died Thursday, April 7, 1994. He was son of the late Verlie Trenor Elmore and Letcher Elmore of New Castle. He was a member of the New Castle Christian Church, member of VFW Post 4491, New Castle and veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Elmore, Thaxton. Surviving are his wife, Alice Fisher Elmore, New Castle; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Doug Davis; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Carrie Elmore Jr.; four brothers, Ross, Dallas, Elwood and Craig Elmore all of New Castle; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Darrell and Peggy Frango, Darren and Sharon Frango of New Castle; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Angela and Mike Allen, Newport, Va.; granddaughter, Debbie Frango, New Castle; grandsons, Chris Ring, New Castle, Greg Elmore, Catawba; two great-granddaughters, Cynthia Frango and Angie Cash both of New Castle; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 10, 1994, 2 p.m. at New Castle Christian Church with Dr. Ernie Johnson and the Rev. Paul St. Clair officiating. GOAD, Ada E. Alderman, 69, Dublin, passed away Friday, April 8, 1994 at Highland Manor Nursing Home, Dublin. She was born July 18, 1924 in W. Va. the daughter of the late Elmer Alderman and Thelma Dalton Alderman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noel R. Goad; and one granddaughter, Tracey Lynn Wilson. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Barry R. Wilson, Dublin, Barbara and J. Stephen Duncan, Dublin; sister and brother-in-law, Imogene and Cecil Goad, Radford; brothers and sisters-in-law, Claude and Marie Alderman, Martinsville, Alton and Nancy Alderman, Morgantown, N.C.; two granddaughters, Lisa Renee Duncan, Regina Ann Duncan; one grandson, Barry Roger Wilson II; two great-grandsons, Jordan Matthew Wilson, Joshua Stephen Noel Duncan. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Sunday, April 10, 1994 at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel, Hillsville with Elder Stephen Waller . Burial will be in the Goad Cemetery at Crooked Oak. KIDD, George H. S., 31, formerly of Rockbridge County, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 1994 at his home in Alameda, Calif., of an AIDS related illness, with his family and friends by his side. He was the son of Robert Lee Kidd, Sr. of Glasgow, Va. and the late Anne Marie Kidd. He is survived by his wife, Susan Chitwood Kidd; one son, George H.S. Kidd, Jr.; two daughters, Tiffany Kidd, and Kristen Kidd of the home; five brothers, Robert Kidd, Jr. of Hayward, Calif., Darrel Kidd, Patrick Kidd and Shane Kidd, all of Glasgow, Jamie Kidd of Buena Vista; six sisters, Patty Wallace, Glasgow, Kathy Kidd, Wytheville, Victoria Perkins, Buchanan, Kelly Landrie and Katie Kidd, of Charlotte, N.C., Shannon Eben of Hayward, Calif. Mr. Kidd was employed by Chrisp Construction as a Journeyman Striper. He spent the last years of his life, educating Teenagers on AIDS awareness. He was a dedicated father and husband, and loved by all that knew him. A memorial Mass will be held Saturday April 16, at St. Barnabas Church Alameda, Calif. McCALL, Jessie Gregory, 70, of Oak Level, died Wednesday, April 6, 1994, in a Martinsville Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charlie and Vernie Gregory and a brother Wilton (Buck) Gregory. Surviving are one sister, Vesta Tyree, Rocky Mount; one sister-in-law, Geneva Gregory, Rocky Mount; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. T. Ivey Adams Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Gregory Family Cemetery. MILLER, John Homer, 72, of Rt 3, Ferrum, died Friday, April 8, 1994, at his home. Mr. Miller retired from DCSC of Columbus, Ohio to the Blue Ridge Mountains in 1980. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles C. and Merle E. Miller. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn J. Miller; sons and daughters-in-law, Frederick and Loretta Miller, Charles and Bonnie Miller, Paul and Sandi Miller all of Columbus, Ohio, Joseph and Rita Miller, North Haver Hill, NH., John Miller II, Lancaster, Ohio; daughters and sons-in-law, Judee Jameson, Elizabe th and Robert Ross, Veronica Miller, Ruth Miller all of Columbus, Ohio, Linda and Dennis Jacobson, Omaha, Neb., Cecilia and Herbert Carpenter, Bremen, Ohio and Mary and Charles Vogel, Thornville, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters; one sister-in-law and her spouse; mother-in-law, Lura D. Foltz, Cardington, Ohio; several nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial mass will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Maier and Sister Fidelis Rubbo officiating. Services and interment will follow Tuesday, in Cardington, Ohio. MORRIS, John William, (""Bill""), 74, of Narrows, died Thursday, April 7, 1994, in the Giles Memorial Hospital, Pearisburg. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born at Narrows on August 8, 1919, and was the son of the late, Charles Ernest and Elsie Blackburn Morris. He was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Morris. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Narrows where he was a lifelong member and served as Sunday School Teacher and Elder Emertis. He was past president of the District 2, Christian Men's Fellowship and had served in several district offices in the church. He was a member of the Giles Camp Gideons International Chapter and had served as a Chaplain. He was a retired supervisor for the Hoechst/Celanese Fibers Company plant in Narrows and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #6000 of Narrows and the American Legion Post #68 of Narrows. He had served on the Narrows Town Council. He was a past member of the Narrows Lions Club where he had served as it's president twice and on the state level, he was past Deputy District Governor, and served as Zone Chairman twice. He was past president of the Giles Little Leage football program and had served as commissioner for 10 years. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Richardson Morris; two daughters and son-in-law, Donna M. Dunn, Sandra K. and David R. Fields, both of Narrows; two brothers, C.E. (Ed) Morris, Pearisburg, and Robert Eugene (Gene) Morris of Narrows; three grandchildren, L/Cpl. Robert C. Dunn, USMC, Quantico, Va. Missy Ann Fields and Pepper Nicole Fields, both of Narrows. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Narrows with the Rev. Jack E. Musick and the Rev. Carroll T. Givens officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Narrows. MOUNTS, Blanche Elizabeth, 78, of Roanoke, died Thursday, April 7, 1994 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She had retired in 1982 from the Salem Veterans Medical Center. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Danny D. and Gloria C. Mounts, Roanoke; three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Wertz and Jack W. Cochran, Salem, Sandra Mounts and John C. Erb, Carson City, Nevada, Marcia Mounts and Dr. Rudolf F. Albert, Roanoke; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Thelma Elliott, Margaret Franklin, Leona Bowles, Irma Lawrence, all of Salem; a special friend, Paul DeHart, Roanoke. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, April 11, 1994 at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the John M. NESTER, Waitman Harman, 63, of Laurel Fork, passed away Friday, April 8, 1994 at R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital at Stuart. He was born in Floyd County, July 9, 1930 to Lewis and Mary (Mollie) Cox Nester. He is survived by his wife, Jan Nester; three sons, Bruce Nester and Lewis Nester, Laurel Fork, Tony Nester, Kernersville, N. C.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Hassie and Frank Wimmer, Copper Hill, Julia Belle and Johnny Alderman, Meadows of Dan, Nelma Moran, Martinsville; one brother, Delton (Jack) Nester, Hillsville; three grandchildren, Marcus Lewis Nester, Laurel Fork, Brandon Lee Nester, Flatrock, N. NICHOLS, Nellie Baker, 94, of Lawrenceville, Ill., formerly of Buchanan, died Friday, April 8, 1994. She was a member of the Lithia United Methodist Church where she played the piano and was the men's Sunday School Teacher and also was a member of the Buchanan Diners Club. She is survived by three nephews; two nieces. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Rader Buchanan Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Creech officiating. Interment will follow in the Mill Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Rader Funeral Home, Buchanan. TUCKER, William D., 84, of Roanoke, died Friday, April 8, 1994 in Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Lexington. Mr. Tucker was retired owner/operator of Tucker Shoe Store, Manassas, Va. He was a life member of Osceola Lodge #47 Knights of Pythias and a member of Green Memorial Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel Ellis Tucker. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Dale T. and Dr. William A. McCown, Lexington, Diane T. and Bob Zambacca, Salem; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Craig D. McCown, the Rev.
