The relationship was as stormy as it was brief. They tied the knot Sept. 24, just weeks after they met, then split up Feb. 23. "The bottom line is I really do love her, and I'll always love her," Hamilton told the TV show "ENQ: Secrets of the National Enquirer" last month. "I wouldn't marry anyone else."
It was rumored, whispered and now confirmed. The Piano Man and the Rocket Man will tour together.
Billy Joel and Elton John will kick off their "Face to Face" tour July 8 in Philadelphia.
"I've wanted to work with Elton for a long time, and now it has finally come together for us," Joel said in a statement.
John's pretty worked up about it as well.
"I'm looking forward to playing, singing and having a blast!" he said.
They plan to open each show together, performing acoustically. Then each will do a set with their respective bands. The finale will feature both artists and their bands performing together.
The tour will include Cleveland; Foxboro, Mass.; Washington, D.C.; East Rutherford, N.J.; Pittsburgh; Detroit; Columbus, Ohio; St. Louis; Milwaukee; and Ames, Iowa. More shows are being planned.
Singer Percy Sledge has pleaded guilty to tax evasion for failing to report more than $200,000 in performance income.
Sledge, best known for "When a Man Loves a Woman," admitted Thursday that he underpaid his 1987-88 taxes by more than $95,000. He could get up to 15 years in prison and a $750,000 fine. No sentencing date was set.
"I'm glad that's all behind us now," Sledge said.
What else for Wayne Newton but a match made in Vegas?
Newton, one of the highest-paid performers on the Las Vegas Strip, will marry Cleveland lawyer Kathleen McCrone at his 52-acre spread today, a source speaking on condition of anonymity told The Associated Press.
Newton, 52, and McCrone, 30, met three years ago while he was performing in Las Vegas. They were engaged last summer, the source said.
Newton has a teen-age daughter by a previous marriage.
Minnie Pearl, whose cheerful greeting lit up many a night at the Grand Ole Opry for more than 50 years, will become the first woman inducted into the National Comedy Hall of Fame.
Pearl, 81, won't be at the April 16 induction. She suffered a stroke in 1991 and is in a nursing home.
