SON OF RADFORD COMES HOME TO PREACH

It will be a homecoming next weekend for George Norris. The Radford native will be back in his home city April 17-19 to preach in spiritual renewal services at GROVE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 1020 Tyler Ave. Services with Norris will get under way with the 11 a.m. Sunday worship April 17 and continue each evening through Tuesday at 7:30.

A 1949 graduate of Radford High School, Norris starred in football and basketball and played on the 1949 state championship basketball team.

Norris, who went on to play football under Carl Snavely at UNC, now is senior minister of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Boone, N.C.

A "Welcome Back George Norris" dinner will be held next Saturday, April 16, 6:30 p.m., in the fellowship hall. The cost is $5. Call the church, 639-2807, by noon Friday for reservations.

MERRIMAC PENTECOSTAL HOLINESS CHURCH, Merrimac Road, Blacksburg, holds revival services with the Rev. Kenneth Kingrea Sunday through Wednesday. Services Sunday at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Weekday services at 7:30 p.m.

DUBLIN CHURCH OF GOD holds revival services with evangelist Clifton West Sunday through Friday. Services Sunday at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. and weeknights at 7 p.m.

The Rev. Ben Payton, evangelist, will be at MIDWAY COMMUNITY CHURCH, Virginian Drive, one block off Merrimac Road, Christiansburg, Wednesday through Saturday, 7 each night.
