NOBEL LAUREATE AT RU GRADUATION

RADFORD - Nobel prize winner and former Costa Rican president Oscar Arias Sanchez will be the keynote speaker at Radford University's commencement May 7.

Arias won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1987 for his efforts to promote peace in Central America. He used the prize money to creat the Arias Foundation for Peace and Human progress.

Timothy Leary to speak at Tech

BLACKSBURG - Tickets to see Timothy Leary, author and former LSD guru of the 1960s, go on sale starting Monday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., at the Squires ticket office.

Leary will present "An Evening with Timothy Leary" April 25, 7 p.m., in Burruss Auditorium on the Virginia Tech campus. Admission is free for Tech students and $3 for non-students.

Post offices stretch hours

CHRISTIANSBURG - Local post offices will offer late hours and special collection points for U.S. income tax filers Friday. Last-minute returns and extension requests may be deposited at the following locations:

Main Post Office, Christiansburg, will cancel all returns deposited in the lobby drop until midnight.

Main Post Office, Radford, will cancel all returns deposited in a special collection box in the lobby until midnight.

Main Office, Blacksburg, will offer full window service and tax assistance in the lobby until midnight. The U.S. Postal Service recommends tax filers mail early and put sufficient postage on the envelope.
