Keebler recalls potato chip snacks

Keebler Co. said Friday it is recalling its Ripplin's Original Flavor Potato Snack Chips with a June 28 sell date. Snack chips in these packages may contain milk products not shown in the ingredient statement.

No illness has been reported. The action was taken due to the risk of allergic reaction among consumers sensitive to milk products.

Bankruptcy court gets 5 petitions

Five business petitions have been filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for Western Virginia at Roanoke.

Griggs Office Equipment of 3229 Brandon Ave., Roanoke, filed for liquidation. The office supply and service firm reported assets of $87,356 and liabilities of $83,341.

Paroki Enterprises, a coal mining company at Haysi, asked for liquidation. It reported no assets and liabilities of $781,366.

Morris J. Davie and Sandra M. Davie of Chilhowie filed for reorganization and protection from creditors. The Davises, saying they were in the sweater manufacturing business, listed assets of $22,600 and liabilities of $233,247.

Alex Stanek and Sheila Stanek of Daleville, owners of Paper Gold, an advertising sales company, petitioned for liquidation, listing assets of $67,071 and liabilities of $319,169.

J. Robert Morefield of Tazewell, who said he was in sales, sought reorganization and protection from creditors, showing assets of $99,730 and liabilities of $997,677.

Uni-Marts Inc., State College, Pa., operator of convenience stores including several in the Roanoke Valley, has completed sale of its dairy processing and distribution operations to Schneider's Dairy Inc. of Pittsburgh for cash and common stock valued at $6.1 million.

Larry Legg and Michael Sheridan have opened a franchise operation of Merry Maids, a residential cleaning service. Doris Harrison is manager of the operation at 3904 Brambleton Ave.
