BONDURANT, Roy Earl, 74, of Virginia Beach and formerly of Roanoke, died Thursday, April 7, 1994, at his home. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Roanoke; a Army veteran of World War II and Korean. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Kirk Scarborough, Yurbo Linda, Calif.; two sisters, Agnes Wertz and Helen Beach both of Roanoke; a brother, Curtis Bondurant, Roanoke; three grandchildren, Shira Smith, California, Bryan Scarborough, Tampa, Fla., Kevin Scarborough, California; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11, 1994, 11 a.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel with interment in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Lotz Salem Chapel.
BURKE, Mr. Joe, 86, of Abingdon, died Saturday, April 9, 1994, at his residence. He was the founder of the Burke Print Shop in 1947 and had been a printer since 1923. He was a veteran of World War II, where he received the Purple Heart and was a member of the Washington County American Legion Post #12 for the past 49 years. Survivors include three daughters, Dr. Daisy B. (Bill) Campbell of Lebanon, Va.; Mrs. Rhea J. (Louise) Jones and Mrs. Doug (Christine) Hardwick, both of Abingdon, Va.; one son, Mr. Joe W. (``Buddy"") Burke Sr. of Abingdon, Va.; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Brown Burk e. Graveside services for Mr. Joe Burke will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday in the Knollkreg Memorial Park, with the Rev. Con W. Henley officiating. Burial will follow in the Knollkreg Memorial Park. DUFOUR, Louis Pierre, 90, of Hot Springs, died Saturday, April 9, 1994, at his residence. He was born June 13, 1903, in Behoust, France, a son of Alphonce Dufour and Valentine Henry Dufour. He was the Chief Baker at the Homestead from 1932 to 1949 and Operator of the Homestead Salon since 1947. He was a French Army Veteran and was a member of the Shrine of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hot Springs, former member and past president of the Bath County Lions Club, former member and past president of the Hot Springs Volunteer Fire Co., and member of the French Society of Culinaire Philanthropique. Survivors include his wife, Clara S. Dufour; one son, Rene Dufour and his wife, Madge, Hot Springs; 5 grandchildren, Laura and husband, Steve Shaver, Hot Springs, Dawn and husband, the Rev. Dr. William Smithwick, Roanoke, John and wife, Cindy Dufour, Richmond, Louis and wife, Teresa Dufour, Hot Springs, Mary Claire and husband, Todd Briggs, Hot Springs; 7 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Rolande Dufour, France; cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Michel Moutand, France. HASE, Mr. Rupert A. D., 91, of 400 Enon Church Road, Chester, Virginia, died Friday, April 8, 1994, in the John Randolph Hospital, Hopewell, Va. He was a native of Roanoke, Virginia, and was the son of the late Ernest Augustus and Ella Bingham Hase. Mr. Hase was a retired merchant. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Virginia W. Hase; one son, James Rupert Hase, both of Chester, and seven grandchildren. Mr. Hase was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Hase Hunter. JONES, Gustavus Alexander Jr., (``Skel""), 93, of Lexington, died Friday, April 8, 1994, in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Mr. Jones was born August 20, 1900, in Lexington, a son of the late Gustavus Alexander Jones Sr. and Eddie Scott Jones. He was a retired businessman in Lexington for many years and was a member of the R. E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian McCrory Jones. Surviving are a stepson, David E. Hall and wife, Dorothy of Lexington; a sister, Miss Elvira Houston Jones, California; special friends, Patricia Burford of Charleston, W.Va., and Dean and Gloria Knick of Lexington. KNIGHT, Edward Lee Jr., of Chester, formerly of Glen Lyn, Va., died Friday, April 8, 1994, suddenly, at his home. Mr. Knight was born in Warrenton, N.C., a son of the late Edward Lee and Loula Macon Shell Knight. He was a graduate of V.P.I. (Class of 1933), a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, was awarded the Bronze Star, and retired as a Lieutenant-Colonel. Mr. Knight also retired from Allied-Signal Corp., was a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, and a member of the Appomattox Stamp Club. He was a member of Chester Presbyterian Church. Predeceased by a brother, Oliver Shell Knight, he is survived by his wife, Margaret Richards Knight, Chester; a son, Edward Lee Knight III; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha Ann and Randolph James, all of Richmond, and a sister, Betsy Givens Haskins, Pearisburg.
