My, oh my, did you strike a nerve with the "holier than thou" crowd of UNC whiners. Don't dare mention Dean Smith negatively (which in this article was done accurately), or face the wrath of all his blind disciples.
In reviewing the various articles supporting their false god - Deano - I would like to emphasize a few points. In reference to Mr. Paksoy's [letter], I only ask that he review Dean's behavior, after ill preparing his prima donnas against Boston College, to that of Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski after losing to California last year. Ms. Whitt talks about intentionally harming other players to win - has she noticed the underachieving Eric Montross' wild elbows?
The only ones holding Eric Montross down are Eric Montross and Dean Smith. (Remember the "D" that Deano used on Air Jordan?) As far as comparing University of Virginia to UNC athletics, Mr. Ryder should note that we are talking about college sports. Therefore, we should note academics and athletics, where UNC comes in a distant third overall to UVa and Duke.
To all of Dean's flock, just answer this question: You have at least eight All-Americans, three 7-footers, more athletic donor money than you know what to do with, usually twice the foul shots of other teams, and you still get beat by a small Eastern team with no one over 6-8. Thou dost whine too much! Congratulations, Jack, for not calling it through blue-tinted glasses.
