DESHAZO DELIVERS FOR TECH

Maurice DeShazo passed for 215 yards and three touchdown to spark Virginia Tech's football scrimmage Saturday in Blacksburg.

DeShazo was 13-of-20 passing, and threw touchdowns to Shawn Scales, Kevin Martin and Bryan Still. Scales, a redshirt freshman, caught five passes for 93 yards.

Tailback Dwayne Thomas led the Hokies rushing attack with 55 yards on 12 carries.

Defensive end Lawrence Lewis had four sacks and seven tackles. Vernon Dozier, Danny Osborne and Glenvar graduate Brandon Semones had eight tackles apiece. Two of Semones' tackles were for losses.
