GOODE SAYS ENOUGH HAVE SIGNED

State Sen. Virgil Goode says he has gathered the 15,000 signatures needed to challenge U.S. Sen. Charles Robb in the June 14 Democratic primary.

Goode, of Rocky Mount, told an audience of 175 Sunday at a lodge along the Blue Ridge Parkway that he will continue collecting signatures of registered voters until Friday's deadline for getting on the primary ballot.

Goode is a conservative Democrat whose 20-year voting record includes opposition to gun control, the Equal Rights Amendment and the regulation of smoking.
