The car, which officials believe is a Chevrolet made in the 1960s, is one of the only leads police have, according to Sgt. Paul McElvein of Roanoke County Police.
"We're hoping the car is unique enough that someone will spot it and give us a call," he said.
The suspect did not display a weapon, but one teller told police she saw what she thought was the barrel of a gun under the man's jacket. No one was injured. Officials did not know exactly how much cash was taken from the bank at 4094 Postal Drive at Virginia 419.
It only took about 30 seconds for the man to demand cash from two tellers. After he got the money, he placed it in a small, cardboard box, according to McElvein. The man fled the bank in his car. Police said they did not know in which direction he went.
The FBI is working with Roanoke County Police in the investigation.
