FIRE KILLS INFANT IN CARROLL COUNTY

A 10-week-old infant was killed in a fire in the Buckwood area of Carroll County Tuesday afternoon.

Raymond Alan Bryant, the son of Terry and Melissa Bryant of Route 1, P.O. Box 428-A, died after the blaze broke out at the mobile home where he lived shortly after 3 p.m., according to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.

Melissa Bryant, and a 2-year-old child of the Bryant's whose name was not available, were taken to Twin County Community Hospital in Galax with minor injuries, a sheriff's office spokesperson said.

A cause of the fire had not been determined Tuesday and an investigation was continuing.
