LIBERTY WINS 11-TEAM MEET

At Pinhook, Liberty University shot a three-day total of 921 to win the Liberty University/Water's Edge Intercollegiate Golf Tournament held at Water's Edge Country Club. Jim Nickerson of Methodist was the medalist with a 224.

The Virginia JV was third at 933, Radford University was seventh at 966 and the Virginia Tech JV was ninth with a 979.

At Chattanooga, Tenn., East Tennessee State won its 10th Southern Conference title and fifth in six years with a three-round score of 881. Marshall was second at 897. VMI finished in 10th place, 193 strokes off the pace, at 1,074.
