The former U.S. secretary of state leads a team of seven foreign mediators who will attempt to break a deadlock between the Zulu nationalist Inkatha Freedom Party and the African National Congress over upcoming elections.
Addressing reporters hours after the team's arrival, Kissinger said South Africa is in sight of a ``tremendous achievement of the human spirit'' - the creation of a multi-racial, pluralistic democracy following the demise of apartheid.
