BROADCASTER 'MO' DONALDSON DIES OF CANCER

Morris T. Donaldson, a broadcast reporter who covered Virginia government and politics, has died of cancer. He was 37.

Donaldson - known as ``Mo'' to listeners of Virginia News Network - died Monday shortly after 8 p.m.

A 1978 graduate of Virginia Tech, Donaldson worked at radio stations in Middletown, Blacksburg and Staunton before joining VNN in 1981.

Donaldson covered three governors and eight General Assembly sessions - including all but the final weeks of the 1994 session. He served as president of the Capitol Correspondents' Association and won several Associated Press and United Press International broadcasting awards.

The governors Donaldson covered said they held him in high regard.

Former Gov. Gerald Baliles said, ``In a world of media noise, Mo Donaldson was a quiet voice of authority.''

Donaldson is survived by his wife, Roxanne.

The Funeral will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Woody Funeral Home's Huguenot Chapel in Chesterfield County.
