ANDERSON, Ira Daniel ""Andy"" Jr., 76, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, April 13, 1994. He was a retired independent contractor with Cavenaugh Corporation of Richmond, Va. He was a member of Southview United Methodist Church, a World War II Army Veteran, and a member of Melrose Lodge #139 AF & AM, Roanoke Scottish Rite Bodies and Kazim Shrine Temple. Surviving are his wife, Eva C. Anderson; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Lee Martin, Roanoke, Christy and Tim Smith, Roanoke; grandchildren, Seth, Brandon, and Luke Martin, and Ashley and Allie Smith; brother, Elwood Anderson, Gretna; sisters, Christine Dickens and Worliece Douglas, both of Durham, N.C., Dorothy Whitaker, of Kentucky; many nieces and nephews; one special nephew, Billy Coleman; a special friend, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Edwards. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11 am Friday, April 15, 1994 at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. George M. Pearson, Jr. officiating. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel after 2 pm Thursday where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm.

AYERS, Everett age 92, of Friendship Manor, formerly of Morton Ave. S.E. Roanoke, died Wednesday, April 13, 1994. He was a member of the Waverly Place Baptist Church; served on the Board of Trustee's, Board of Deacons and the Building Committee. He was a retired Master Mechanic for Trailway Bus Co., was past President of The S.E. Civic Association. Mr. Ayers was preceded in death by his wife, Oakie M. Ayers and a daughter, Marie A. Jones. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Lewis Edward and Frances O. Ayers, Bolling Green, Va., David Swanson and Louise Ayers, Troutville, Thomas L. and Virgie M. Ayers, Roanoke; four grandsons, David S. Ayers Jr., Roanoke, David Jones, Colonial Heights, Carty W. Jones, Chester, V a., Lee Jones, Fredericksburg; granddaughter, Judy Jones, Colonial Heights; two sisters, Clara A. Wilson and Bernice A. Woods, both of Roanoke. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Charles Hoffler and the Rev. William E. Hungate officiating. Interment will be in the M. L. Martin Cemetery, Bedford County. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.

CAREY, Irby Buford, 98, of Burkeville, Va., died Tuesday, April 12, 1994. He was a retired N &W Railroad employee. He is survived by one son, James I. ""Jack"" Carey, Oxford, N. C.; three daughters, Ruth C. Lewis, Salem, Christine C. Glascock, and Alma M. Carey, both of Burkeville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home, Crewe, with burial in the Crewe Cemetery. DAY, Master Eric Devun, infant son of Gloria Day and Earl Hill, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 1994. Besides his parents, surviving are one brother, Stephen Day; grandparents, Shirley A. Day and George Williams; great- grandparents, Rosa Lee Day and Mrs. Norma Hale; one uncle, Markus Day; one aunt, Murie Day; two great-aunts, Patricia Paxton and Betty White; a host of other relatives and friends, all of Roanoke. HOLTON, Gracia Heller, 72, of Pearisburg, died at her home, Tuesday, April 12, 1994. Mrs. Holton was born in Buffalo, N. Y. on August 4, 1921, and was a daughter of the late Charles Heller and Mary Elizabeth Wolfe Heller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Holton; and a granddaughter, Danielle Neel. Mrs. Holton was a retired 1st Lt. in the United States Army Nursing Corp. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in -law, Honore and Richard Webb of Pearisburg, Va., Mary Beth Holton of Pearisburg, Va., Suzanne and David Neel of Roanoke, Va.; four grandchildren, Karen and John Myers of Blacksburg, Va., Brandon and Cortney Webb of Pearisburg, Va., Kendra Neel of Roanoke, Va. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, April 14, 1994, at 1 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church in Pearisburg, Va. LEWIS, Hattie F. (""Peg""), 95, of Dunbar, W.Va., and formerly of Roanoke, died Tuesday, April 12, 1994, in Americare of Dunbar, after a long illness. She was a member of Spring Valley Garden Club, Roanoke. She is survived by two grandchildren, Cindy Bradbury, Houston, Texas, Dave Martin, Elkview, W.Va.; two sisters, Mildred Craddock, Logan, W.Va., Ruby Johnson, Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Bill Ferrell, Nitro, W.Va., Dorsey Ferrell, Columbus, Ohio; four great-grandchildren. LOWE, Russell S., 78, of Peterstown, W.Va., died Tuesday, April 12, 1994, in a Pearisburg Virginia Hospital. He was born April 5, 1916 at Red Sulphur Springs, and was the son of the late James R. and Roxie Humphreys Lowe. He is survived by his wife, Delcie B. Fraley Lowe; four daughters, Mrs. Samuel ""Sarah Elizabeth"" Shires, Peterstown, Mrs. Carl ""Cora Lee"" McCoy, Huntington, W.Va., Mrs. Harvey ""Linda Kathryn"" Moser, Radford, Va. and Mrs. Ruth Ellen Irwin, Largo, Fla.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 15, 1994, at Broyles Funeral Home in Peterstown, W.Va. with the Revs. Tommy Mounts and Marshall Fowler officiating. SETTLES, James Elbert, (``Pop''), 83, of Glade Hill, died Tuesday, April 12, 1994, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born June 20, 1910, in Hale, Missouri, one of eight children of Henry and Jenny Settles. Mr. Settles was retired from Hercules, Inc. and worked for many years at the Radford Arsenal. Lo ving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and father-in-law, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Glendon Hammons Settles. Surviving are his wife, Josie Blankenship Settles, Franklin County; three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Betsy Settles, Roanoke; Charles and Linda Settles, Dayton, Ohio, Ronald and Reindl Settles, Munich, Germany. ``Pop'' had nine grandchildren, Juli Hamilton, Forest Hill, Md., Doug Settles, Roanoke, Marcus Settles, Munich, Germany, Kevin Settles, San Francisco, Calif., Diane Settles, Chattanooga, Tenn., Eric Settles, Munich, Germany, Randy Settles, San Francisco, Calif., Nancy Settles, Virginia Beach, and Monica Urban, Wasserburg, Germany. He had seven great-grandchildren, his greatest joy in later years. Arrangements are by Oakey Funeral Service, South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Avenue S.W., Roanoke, VA 24018. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society (P.O. SEXTON, Viola Thompson, of Bristol, Tenn., died Tuesday, April 12, 1994. A native of Roanoke, she had lived in Bristol since 1940. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and an associate member of the Gibbon Study Club. She was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College. Survivors include her husband, John Everett Sexton; one son, James Timothy Sexton, Richmond; one daughter, Mary Ellen Sexton, Chapel Hill, N.C.; one sister, Lula Thompson Brown, Charlottesville; two grandchildren, Helen Thompson Sexton and John Timothy Sexton, both of Richmond. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at the graveside in Glenwood Cemetery with Dr. W. Rand Forder officiating. STULTZ, Charles Herbert, 73, of Rocky Mount, died Tuesday, April 12, 1994 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born October 26, 1920 in Henry County a son of the late Jesse Ben and Mary Lou Ramsey Stultz. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Stultz. He retired from Continental Homes after 20 years service and was a member and retired deacon of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church and a former member of Oak Level Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Young Stultz; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Gayle Stultz, Dwight and Anne Stultz, all of Martinsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Robin Doss, Winchester; seven grandchildren, Kim Foley, Kelli McGuire, John Stultz, Stephanie Stultz, Heather Stultz, Ashleigh Stultz, Charles Doss; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dollie Koger, Sanford, Fla., Bessie Myers, Bassett; one brother, Joseph Stultz, Kensington, Md. Funeral services will be conducted at Oak Level Baptist Church 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Joe Dillon and the Rev. Randall Blackmon officiating. VAN FOSSEN, Billy J., 67, of 1716 Grandin Rd., Apt #1, Roanoke, died Monday, April 11, 1994, at his residence. He was born August 16, 1926, in Augusta County. He was a retired electrician and musician, and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn G. Ferris, Billie J. Reid, and Joyce Y. Reed, all of Salem; two brothers; one sister; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Bear Funeral Home, Churchville, by the Rev. Karl Reese, nephew of Mr. Van Fossen. Burial will be in West Augusta Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Bear Funeral Home.

WEBBER, Nelson O. Sr., (``Pat''), 72, of Blue Ridge, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 1994, at his home. He was retired from the Continental Trailways of Washington, D.C. with 26 years of service and was a longtime member of Mountain View Baptist Church, Blue Ridge. He was the husband of (Betty) Jane Dyer Webber. He was the father of Nelson O. Webber Jr. and wife, Cathy, Manassas, William E. Webber and wife, Kathleen, Nokesville. He was the grandfather of Nelson O. Webber III and wife, Sarah, Woodbridge, Caitlin P. and Abigail L. Webber, Nokesville. He was the son-in-law of Mrs. Bessie Dyer, Vinton. Mr. Webber is also survived by two brothers, Henry E. Webber, Blue Ridge, Lawrence E. Webber, Vinton; four sisters, Gladys Moses, Cora Hines, both of Newport News, Ruth Gros s, Blue Ridge, and Dorothy Jennings, Roanoke; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, 1994, with the Rev. Billy H. Leonard officiating. Burial will be in Fair View Cemetery.
