SWING BAND TO GIVE PERFORMANCE MONDAY

The Roanoke Valley Community Band will score two firsts at its 1994 spring concert Monday.

This will be the band's first formal, indoor concert, and the band will unveil its new Swing Band with the Big Band Sound of yesteryear.

M. C. White, a spokesman for the band, said the Swing Band is made up of some of the players from the larger band.

The free concert will be in the auditorium at Cave Spring High School beginning at 7:30 p.m.

White said most of the band's concerts have been outdoors or in shopping malls.

Most of the players in the Community Band were players in high school marching bands. The band has all wind and percussion instruments.
