\ Group needs volunteers for reading project

Family Reading Connections is seeking volunteers to work with children and adults in its weekly reading sessions.

The project's goal is to teach parents reading strategies that they may use to teach their children, while fostering reading as an enjoyable family activity.

Partially funded by a Bell Atlantic/American Libraries Association Family Literacy Project grant, the program is a collaborative effort of the Roanoke and Roanoke County public library systems, Literacy Volunteers of America and Bell Atlantic.

For more information, call project coordinator Sarah Rubush at 981-2340, or Nancy Francisco of the Literacy Volunteers of America at 342-1624.
