Jeff Starer pitched a one-hitter for Lebanon (5-0 overall, 3-0 in the Hogoheegee District) and Charlie Stone went 3-for-4 with a home run for the Pioneers. George Wythe is 3-3, 0-3.

In Galax, Jason Beam pitched a three-hitter as Galax handed Mountain Empire District power Narrows its first defeat, 3-2. Beam, a junior right-hander, struck out 14 for the Maroon Tide (2-4). Narrows' record is 4-1.
In Christiansburg, Blake Hendricks hit a two-run double to help the Blue Demons (4-4) beat Carroll County 5-2 in a New River District game. Jason Kilbourn went 3-for-4 for Carroll County (7-2).
In Moneta, Staunton River scored six runs in the sixth inning to edge Liberty 6-5 in a Seminole District game.
After the leadoff batter reached first on a passed ball, the Golden Eagles hit five consecutive singles and capitalized on an error by the Liberty second baseman to score six runs.
Dwight Orange went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI to lead Staunton River (3-4, 3-4).
Jay Smith went 2-for-4 and Jay Dooley went 2-for-3 with a double for the Minutemen (1-4).
In Daleville, Billy Arthur pitched a one-hitter and struck out 14 to lead Lord Botetourt to a 6-0 victory over Pulaski County (2-5). Arthur had a no-hitter for 5 innings.
Brian Davis and Jack Johnson had two hits apiece for the Cavaliers (4-1).
\ SOCCER: Patrick Henry's Dutes Alexis scored two goals and Ashley Kinsey and Jack Edwards added one each as the Patriots (3-2-1, 2-0) turned back visiting Pulaski County 4-1 in a Roanoke Valley District game. The Cougars' goal was scored by Brad Dalton. Pulaski County is 1-3 and 0-1.
In Wytheville, Robbie Claytor had a pair of goals to back up the goalkeeping of Stephen Stephens, who had 14 saves, and Giles went on to a 4-0 victory over George Wythe.
