MUSEUM GETS FOLK ART

The Art Museum of Western Virginia in Roanoke has received a major collection of Appalachian folk art.

Edwin Sieveking, retired president of Kroger's Mid-Atlantic Marketing Area, and his wife, Lois Sieveking, donated the works to the museum. Included in the gift are works by Howard Finster of Georgia, Georgia Blizzard of Chilhowie, Kentucky woodcarvers Garland and Minnie Atkins and James Harold Jennings of North Carolina. Works by Brian Sieveking, the donors' son, are also a part of the gift.

The new folk art collection will be exhibited in the museum's Folk Art Gallery on the second floor of Center in the Square.
